Adamson Women's Volleyball Succumbs to NU in Season 85 UAAP Final Four

Manila, Philippines - In a thrilling showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Adamson University Women's Volleyball team faced a heartbreaking defeat against the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs during the Final Four of Season 85 of the UAAP. Despite putting up a valiant fight, Adamson fell short in a gripping five-set match that left fans on the edge of their seats.


Both teams entered the game with immense determination, knowing that a spot in the championship was at stake. The Lady Falcons of Adamson, who had shown immense promise throughout the season, showcased their skills with a strong start. Led by their captain, the seasoned veteran Jane Garcia, and the rising star Alyssa Santos, Adamson claimed the first set with a narrow margin of 25-23.


However, the NU Lady Bulldogs, who possessed an impressive defensive line, fought back fiercely in the second set. The combination of the team's libero, Patricia Rodriguez, and setter, Carla Ramos, proved to be a formidable force, as they executed flawless digs and sets. NU clinched the second set with a score of 25-20, leveling the playing field.


The intensity of the match reached its peak in the third and fourth sets, as both teams exchanged powerful spikes and well-placed blocks. The Lady Falcons' middle blockers, Sofia Reyes and Andrea Gomez, delivered outstanding performances, while NU's open hitters, Mia Dela Cruz, and Jona Torres, displayed exceptional offensive skills. The sets ended in a 26-24 victory for NU and a 25-22 triumph for Adamson, respectively.


With the game tied at two sets apiece, the deciding fifth set unfolded as a nail-biting battle. The NU Lady Bulldogs showcased their resilience and experience, capitalizing on their opponents' errors and taking an early lead. Despite the Lady Falcons' valiant effort to mount a comeback, NU ultimately emerged victorious with a final score of 15-11 in the fifth set.


Although Adamson's journey in Season 85 UAAP ended in the Final Four, they left an indelible mark on the volleyball community with their tenacity and skill. Head coach, Antonio Rivera, commended his team's outstanding performance and expressed pride in their accomplishments throughout the season. The Lady Falcons may have fallen short this time, but they undoubtedly showcased their potential and promise for future campaigns.
