Filipino basketball fans prefer to watch NBA over PBA

Filipino basketball fans remain to be one of the biggest markets of the NBA outside the US, according to the NBA Asia executives.

The Philippines have been known as the basketball-loving country and half of them still prefer to watch the NBA than the PBA because of the wider range of access and more advertisement to promote the games. Plus, the players are more well-known and famous than the PBA players.

PBA also has many notable alumni players like, Robert Jaworski, Benjie Paras, Junemar Fajardo, and James Yap but the generation now much more invested on what’s on the trend and those are the NBA players like Lebron James, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry.

One of the many factors why most Filipinos much prefer the NBA is social media as the advertisements are all over the feed such as facebook,instagram, and twitter.

Anjello Bumanglag, a first year college student from Adamson university said, “Tatlong rason ang alam ko kung bakit mas gusto ng pinoy ang NBA (Three reasons why Filipino much prefer the NBA)

“Una Syempre, western media plus point na kaagad yun (First, of course, it is a western media, so it is a plus point)”

“Pangalawa, mas better ang basketball (Second, the basketball is much better)”

“Pangatlo, yung PBA kasi sobrang rapid ng decline niya in terms of quality and hype to the point na parang 3-5 teams na lang naglalaban sa finals (Lastly, PBA has much rapid decline when it comes to the quality and hype to the point that there were only 3-5 teams left fighting in the finals).”

Even though most pinoy basketball fans are likely to watch the NBA, the love for this sport of the Filipinos are unmatched.
