A candle lighting ceremony was held in front of Adamson University's SV building to commemorate chemical engineering student, John Matthew Salilig, on Wednesday evening.

Students wore all black instead of their uniforms to school in mourning for their fellow "klasmeyt."

Hundreds gathered to show their respect as the day started with a noon time Mass which was later concluded with the candle lighting.

Salilig, 24, was found dead in Imus City, Cavite on Tuesday after going missing for more than one week.

The death was a result of a fraternity hazing by the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, who reportedly struck Salilig at least 70 times.

Although Adamson is not liable for the incident, school officials have vowed to assist in the investigation upon identifying the participating perpetrators of the incident.

The Adamson students are urged to wear black for the rest of the week, while varsity teams have begun wearing black armbands and uniforms to dedicate their games to their fallen klasmeyt.
