First year communications students at Adamson University sat in on a talk given by Mr. Hajji Kaamiño at the Media Center of the Saint Therese building on April 27, 2023.

He gave insight on the requirements of the job, the equipment one would need to report quickly and efficiently, the ease as well as how Mobile Journalism can be difficult if one is not technology-literate.

Furthermore, he emphasized how efficient MoJo is compared to regular reporting. Regular reporting requires heavy equipment and more manpower but in MoJo, the only main thing that you need is your phone.

Whether pushing through a large crowd or in a wide-open highway accident, MoJo makes capturing news almost instantaneously.

But MoJo does not come without its own struggles. He explained that while capturing news so quickly, you must also be able to deliver it quickly. Mr. Hajji mentions his experiences of being present at Presidential speeches and government hearings and having drafted a report in a little over 10 minutes, memorizing the draft, then delivering the report to the public.

He gave the first-year students a little taste of what it is like to produce news under such circumstances.

At the end of the talk, Mr. Hajji assigned different beats and topics to divided groups among the students.

He then sent them out to campus to find people to interview regarding their assigned topics and the first years did not disappoint.

Although they were only given two whole days to complete their task, the first-year Communication students handed in impressive outputs, resembling that of an actual news agency.

Seeing the effectiveness and the practicality of the talks that the first-year communication students have had this year, surely, they are looking forward to more in the future.
