The Creative Communicators Society of Adamson University held an environmental and academic event to help nurture the CoMM-unity’s environmental awareness, as well as improve their academic excellence last Thursday, May 11, at the REGIS-CLET.Office.

There were two speakers during the event. The first speaker was Ms. Riza Lana Sebastian, who is an entrepreneur, podcaster, content creator, and advocate.

Before she began, the organizers held an icebreaker first to lighten the mood of the audience.

After doing so, she started talking about the importance of supporting local brands and zero waste and how it will help in preserving the environment. In line with her advocacy, she is an entrepreneur who sells beauty products that are packed in recycled and reused materials to lessen the waste being used and the impacts of climate change.

As the discussion progresses, it is evident how impactful her advocacy is.

“Parang ayoko nang masyadong gumamit ng plastic, ultimo pati mga sachet ng shampoo nakakasama sa environment eh (I think I have to lessen my use of plastic, and even shampoo sachets can harm the environment),” Elaiza Tumale, one of the attendees said.

The second speaker was an alumnus of the Communication Department from Batch 2017 and is currently Digital Data Analyst, Ms. Raven Kate Austria.

In her talk, she mainly talked about the responsibilities of an advertiser. From following the tasks that the client wants to convincing the target audience to purchase the product they are promoting, Ms. Karen provided a very informative talk about the field she is working on.

The event lasted for two hours and more than 50 Communication students attended.
