SEVERITY OVER SIMPLICITY

A fraternity on a college campus that appears to be usual may actually be dangerous. Typically, you hear how enjoyable and wonderful college is, but hazing actually happens behind all the smiles. Many people engage in nasty behavior known as hazing. Hazing should be outlawed entirely and anyone who engages in it should face punishment. If hazing is no longer practiced, lives can be spared and danger
and injuries can be avoided.
Hazing is any careless, purposeful, or inadvertent behavior that endangers the safety or security of a new student joining a fraternity or other organization by endangering their emotional, physical, or intellectual well-being.
You have no option but to take part in the ceremonies if you wish to be initiated.
It can happen on or off the facility or even inside school premises which here in the Philippines are illegal due to our enforced law which is the Anti-hazing law. This law indicates the consequences of doing such violent acts due to the pressure of having to join fraternities.
Most people in today's society know that hazing is bad, but their mindsets need to shift in order to give emphasis on the severity and not the simplicity of this murderous act. Especially, for our elected government officials, the perfect example being Matt Salilig’s case which officials like Sen. Padilla and Sen. Tulfo are denouncing the school more than the actual suspects.
Overall, to ensure safety in fraternities and on college campuses, hazing awareness must rise along with the legal restrictions against it. By strengthening the regulations against hazing, individuals will reflect more on their behavior and attitudes on the subject.
According to my best understanding, the goal of fraternities is to form an everlasting brotherhood. However, the "brotherhood" that exists in college fraternities permits people to be humiliated and hurt. The general call to action individuals feel when they hear a terrible tale like the ones previously described
