There was this second-year BA Communication student named Arlyn who lives in the crowded neighborhood of Baclaran. Getting to know her personality, she is a very optimistic person and makes every negative thing into a positive one. Not to mention that she’s diffident enough to not ride a jeepney because she will be forced to say “para po,” crazy, right?
On a typical day in the life of a student, she’s calmly walking along the road on her way to Baclaran Station— until an e-bike obstructs her way. The driver said, “sige lakad lakad! (Walk ahead!). She then proceeded to walk, then suddenly, *BOOGSH*, the sidecar of the e-bike banged into her face. Although the driver apologized, her face says it all. She didn’t mind the accident because she was about to get late and her mind was already clouded with piled-up writings.
Anyway, she walked until she got to the station. She loaded her beep card with feverish haste so that the train won’t scoot off without her. There she ran hurriedly— full of sweat while catching her breath.
In the midst of her heavy breathing, she sensed that the train was not moving. And her inner self was like, “Why does it take so long to move?” Then, the security guard opened her megaphone and said, “paumanhin po sa konting abala, may aberya po na nangyari. Baba na po muna ang mga nakasakay.” She was one of the passengers who were dismayed. So, they emptied the train and waited for the next one. Luckily, the incoming train had no passengers.
To cut the long story short, after she went through all the trouble, she finally arrived at her school, then the guard told her, “Miss, walang pasok.”
